Each scarf  is one-of-a-kind, specially handmade. “Nuno” is a Japanese word meaning “fabric.” When these nuno scarfs are made, a new fabric has been created. The soft merino wool fibers are manually manipulated through the silk fabric. This technique is called “felting.” Through this felting process, the wool fibers tie around each other and tightly knot. With friction and heat, the wool fibers shrink, creating “rouching.” Rouching makes the puckers, ruffles and the new beautiful texture of the silk fabric. The entire process takes many manual hours of labor. The result is a lovely, soft, comfortable, lightweight, warm, flowing and beautifully draping scarf or shawl which can be worn any day of the year.

The light and flowing nuno felted grey scarf with different colors of blue and grey lines is made with 100% soft silk and 100% merino wool. The felting of the wool has created great amounts of bunching and gathering of the silk for a beautiful textured look. The nuno felting scarf measures 98 inches long and 9 inches wide. White nuno felted scarf is made with off-white 100% silk and 100% off-white and a small amount of purple merino wool.  This beautiful nuno felted scarf measures 100 inches long and 14 inches wide. It can dress up or dress down any outfit; can look dressy or casual. The wool is on one side of the scarf. The reverse side looks beautiful where the wool has scrunched up the silk.
